Cynology Association of the Republic of Serbia (Kinološki Savez Srbije)

has been founded in 1925 with the main purpose being the promotion of cynology, education of breeders, promoting responsible breeding and taking care of Serbian indigenous breeds. SKC is also a permanent member of Fédération Cynologique Internationale – the FCI. In order to accomplish its noble goals, SKC is also cooperating with Serbian Hunting Association, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Serbian army, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and other organizations important for the development of Serbian cynology. The highest governing body is the Board comprised of Serbian Cinology Association’s board members

Previously named National Cynology Association, the SKC changed its name to Cynology Association of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the constitutional changes, and changes in the country’s name. The seat of the SKC is in Belgrade.

SKC’s primary duties are:

  • Managing the central pedigree book
  • Issuing pedigrees
  • Managing the kennel database
  • Making plans for cynological manifestations,
  • Organizing educational seminars,
  • Organizing exams for cynological judges,
  • Keeping records of cynological judges,
  • Issuing the charter of “National champions” for young and mature dogs,

Serbian Kennel Club is paying special attention to our native breeds: Serbian Hound, Serbian Tricolor Hound, and Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog – Šarplaninac. Through various benefits, education of breeders and judges, and other means of helpful support, SKC wants to advance and enhance the breed’s standard, as well as their presentation.

Today, the Cynology Association of the Republic of Serbia is a modern, European cynology association which never had such an agile and active team of people in federal and local cynology organizations. Serbian Kennel Club is comprised of 205 smaller kennel clubs located in the Serbian territory.

In theCynology Association of the Republic of Serbia, today you can attain various publications and cinology brochures. Serbian Kennel Club is very arduously managing databases regarding pedigrees, charters, export pedigrees, automatic data managing and more.

During 2016, in SKC’s pedigree book was registered somewhere around 40.000 puppies of various breeds, and more than 2000 champion charters have been issued, together with more than 7500 export pedigrees. Also, Serbian Kennel Club organizes more than 350 international and national cynology manifestations, and also helps protecting and breeding of our national breeds. This means that cynology is a very developed segment in Serbia, and that every year brings more members and followers. Serbian cynologynassociation has more than 400 international cynology judges, all of whom are very esteemed and have prosperous careers judging Serbian and worldwide shows.

SKC gathers many kennel clubs from the entire Serbia, promotes our cynology through well-organized kennel club manifestations (international, national dog shows specialized shows, and more), ongoing education of cinology judges, maintaining the quality of breeding and nurturing all breeds, and spotless record keeping.

Apart from this technical part, the Serbian Kennel Club is also a place for esteemed kennel club members who want to socialize and exchange newest information from the FCI.
