The Austrian Kennel Club (ÖKV)

founded in 1909, is the umbrella organization of more than 100 Austrian Dog clubs that deal with the breeding, keeping, training, exhibition, training and testing of dogs and has more than 55,000 members.

The Austrian Kennel Club is the only Austrian canine umbrella organization that is a member of the international canine umbrella organization, the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale).

The range of services offered by ÖKV

  • Healthy pedigree dogs from reputable breeders

Purchasing a puppy should not be a spontaneous decision, i.e. not an impulse purchase, but requires careful and fundamental consideration. Only then should a decision be made regarding the breed. Only the breed puppy gives you the guarantee that your expectations regarding the size, appearance and character traits of the dog will be met. The breeding clubs and breeders of the ÖKV devote themselves to the responsible rearing of puppies with a great deal of commitment and a great love for animals, with the aim that your "desired partner with the cold snout" is characterized by health, temperament and beauty.

  • Dog training and dog sport

A dog raised and trained with empathy, love and consistency ensures a conflict-free coexistence between humans and dogs in our increasingly narrow environment. Dog sport offers a wide range of sporting activities for humans and dogs with numerous opportunities to demonstrate their skills in fair competition.

Around 500 training places are available to active dog owners nationwide.

  • Hunting dog training

The Austrian hunting dog system and the support of the hunting dog owners in the training of their protégés, as well as the implementation of the goals in the hunting dog management and training is carried out by hunting dog breeding and testing clubs.

  • Dog shows

Every year, the ÖKV and its associated bodies organize around 12 international dog shows and a number of club shows.

  • Courses, seminars and lectures

Within the framework of the ÖKV - Academy, which was launched as an educational offensive on the subject of dogs, cynological knowledge is conveyed to a wide circle of dog lovers and the general public interested in dogs. Specialist events deal with issues such as breeding, rearing, training the legal status of dogs and veterinary issues.

  • Monthly magazine “UH – Our Dogs”

The official organ of the Austrian Kennel Club: informative, competent, personable, up-to-date, factual and colourful.

  • Free advice on dog issues
